Britta Steffen, how she did jump start vs other swimmers doing a track start, half a body length behind and came back in the last 10 meters. That must have hurt.
The streamline kinda hadn’t been invented until later on in the sport. Athletes in the 80s also usually didn’t wear googles and decent tech suits were hard to find. The sport has evolved a lot since then to be more efficient.
My personal favorites: 1 - Rio 2016 2 - Athens 2004 3 - Atlanta 1996 4 - Barcelona 1992 5 - Sydney 2000 6 - Beijing 2008 7 - London 2012 8 - Tokyo 2020 (2021) 9 - Paris 2024 10 - Seoul 1988
Yeah, all that fuss just to get the OR smashed Fuss: 2004 - 24.13 2016 - 24.07 2008 - 24.06 2012 - 24.05 All those close performances in the Olympic Games just to get smashed by 2020 - 23.81
Both Alan Budikusuma and Susi Susanti are Chinese. Their ancestors are from Shanghai ( susi) and Hong Kong ( Alan). Rudy Hartono is from Shenzhen .yet they represented Indonesia in badminton why ??? Cause they were borned and breed there
What are your sources claiming the 1988/1992 champions doped? I looked it up there are no official record that backs up your claim and their times still hold valid on FINA database.
@@crybabyteamo the claim was based on that both Otto and Yang were from socialism/communism countries, typical stereotype that if an athlete wins and if s/he isn’t from a US allies or EU members, s/he must have been doping to win

This is such a great showcase of how the sport has evolved so much over the years

timestamp please
She’s amazing
Especially for Dara Torres who was literally 41 and would have been the oldest swimmer to ever win gold by SIX YEARS if she hadn’t lost it then
Great video! Fascinating to see how the times improved. Inge is my all time fav :)))
2016 Pernille Blume 🇩🇰
12:02 WOW! Each swimmer from 1st through 5th were 0.02 apart between each other!
Actually 0.08 between 1-5, and 0.12 between 1 thru 6. But definitely close. The previous gold medalist was 6th but only .12 from 1st.
Grammar corrections.
@@zottffss True, grammar, like numbers, is quite important. ;-)
I’m sure everyone can agree that the song for London 2012 was fire
Women didn't do underwater kicks until Athens 2004?
Great job thanks.

@@lucychia3987 I see. That's sad. I've heard of the stereotype, but to put it on a specific athlete without actual evidence is despicable.
